Some of the best places we have visited, just happened to be on our route so we stopped by ...

50,000 years ago, a meteorite estimated to have been 150 feet across and weighing several hundred thousand tons, slammed into this rocky plain.  The resulting hole is more than 1 mile across and 500 feet deep.  The terrain is so similar to the moon, that NASA used to train the Apollo astronauts there.  The visitors center was great.  You may see in some of the outdoor photos, the wind ... it  was so strong, we thought we were going to lose the RV!
